Sidney Sommer, Managing Director
Sidney manages UCIT’s sales. In 2003 he founded UCIT as an innovative idea that has since developed into the largest and most experienced security video monitoring company in Canada. With over a decade of experience in the security/surveillance industry, he began his career working for Vidair AG, a German aerospace company specializing in onboard video surveillance systems. While working at Vidair, Sidney successfully launched the North American Sales and Marketing operations in Toronto, Canada (1999) as well as the Sales and Technical Support Centre in San Antonio, Texas (2001).
In 2002 Sidney moved back to Toronto where he transformed his digital video knowledge he acquired in the aerospace industry into a business that would revolutionize the physical security industry. UCIT’s "live video monitoring" solution quickly got approval from major insurance companies as a reliable replacement for on-site security guards. Sidney’s original focus on the construction industry catapulted the company into a multimillion dollar business; today UCIT is a dominant force in Manufacturing, Industrial, Commercial, Property Management and Construction Security. Sidney’s innovative business idea earned him the BDC’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Ontario in 2008. Under his leadership UCIT has been ranked #19 on Profit Magazine’s list of fasted growing companies in Canada for both 2010 and 2011.
In early 2011 Sidney partnered with Auxo Management, a private investment firm based out of Toronto, to help take UCIT to the next level. Sidney attended Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec where he received a BA in Criminology. He is originally from Basel, Switzerland and grew up in Toronto, Ontario.
Hugh Wong, Chief Operating Officer

He has been instrumental in the company’s recent expansion during which time their work force has grown exponentially and they were recognized in both 2010 and 2011 as the 19th fastest growing company in Canada by Profit 100 magazine. Hugh’s current position comes after 21 years of experience in law enforcement with the Toronto Police Service. Throughout his policing career, Hugh managed several teams of officers in different departments focused on crime reduction, best business practices and risk management.
Hugh graduated from the Ontario Police College in the top quartile and achieved multiple awards and certifications during his time in the law enforcement field. In 2005, he was awarded the Minister of Justice National Youth Justice Policing Award for Canada by the Department of Justice in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, for his role in developing a community based youth focused restorative justice program. Hugh’s policing experience has aided him in better servicing the company’s clients by identifying weaknesses and potential for concern and thereby developing strategies aimed at increasing employee safety, heightening corporate security as well as reducing costs.
